About Us

At the Scholarship Institute, we bring sponsors, students, and universities together to make a great education more affordable.

With tuition costs rising and median earnings staying flat, higher education has become less and less attainable. Simultaneously education is getting even more important for those seeking to find their place in our rapidly evolving economy and society. With student debt ballooning and students under pressure to keep up in a world that requires constant learning, the Scholarship Institute seeks to be a force of good, making education more affordable through scholarships.

The rise of Student Debt

In 2019, more than 45 million borrowers owe more than a shocking $1.5 trillion in student loans, a consumer debt figure that is second only to mortgage debt, outpacing even medical debt on the national scale.

Since 1908, tuition has grown 6.5x faster than income.

Since 1908, tuition has grown 6.5x faster than income.

One in five adult Americans (not one in five students, one in five of the entire US population!) carry student loan debt.

The result? Students countrywide are searching for new ways to fund their education and minimize their future or current debt. More students than ever are turning to scholarships in the hope of finding support.

At the Scholarship Institute, our team bridges the gap between donors and students. We collaborate with  donors to create new scholarships, then work with universities to make students aware of each scholarship opportunity.

What’s our methodology?

We start by helping companies and individual donors create scholarships that are aligned with their mission, values, and budget. We support a far range of ideas as long as are relevant to the sponsor and help real students.

We then reach out to universities to get scholarships in front of students so they can apply– the best scholarships don’t help if no one knows about them.

We then help sponsors choose scholarship recipients and support with the communication to ensure each student receives the funds in a timely manner.

Why do so many companies decide to sponsor scholarships?

Most companies we work with are small or medium-sized and owner-operated. Many of these successful entrepreneurs know the value of education and want to give back to the community. Some have even benefited from being scholarship recipients themselves in the past and know how much financial stress they can relieve. Some scholarship recipients even end up getting their start out of college by working for the sponsoring companies, so it’s a big win for everyone involved.
